Energy Management Collaborative Marks 5 Billion kWh of Customer Energy Savings with Move to New Headquarters

Energy Management Collaborative (EMC) recognized a new energy savings milestone this Earth Day when its completed lighting retrofit projects exceeded 5 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy savings for clients. The company is marking this accomplishment with the grand opening of a new headquarters, located at 2890 Vicksburg Lane N in Plymouth, MN.

Since 2003 EMC has tracked the energy savings its LED lighting and controls installations have delivered to its customers, many who have thousands of facilities across geographies. Five billion kWh of savings nears the equivalent of 418.7 million gallons of gasoline consumed and provides the same reductions in greenhouse gasses as growing 96.4 million trees for ten years.

“This is truly a testament to our ability to successfully complete large-scale lighting and controls projects with significant energy and bottom line savings,” said EMC Chief Executive Officer Howard Heckes.

The company continues to gain momentum: While it took a decade to deliver the first billion kWh of energy savings, EMC customers saved two billion kWh in the last year alone.

Sustainability and energy savings are also at the heart of EMC’s new headquarters. Designed with the same best-in-class approach it uses with its customers, the facility includes a variety of different branded systems and products and combines daylight harvesting, scheduling, personal control and HVAC integration to create an attractive, energy efficient work environment.

“At EMC, we are living our mission in this new office space,” said Heckes. “We have a lighting showcase for customers to preview various types of lighting and controls, demonstrating what is possible.”

Lighting and controls at the headquarters will continually change as new technologies become available. Visiting customers will not only be able to see the technology in use, but EMC employees will also be able to tell them what it is like to personally experience them in their day-to-day work environment.
