Turnkey lighting solutions provider Energy Management Collaborative (EMC) was recognized this week by Southern California Edison (SCE) as one of its highest energy savings customer agents in 2013. EMC applied for and completed energy projects that resulted in a savings of 4.7 million kilowatt hours (kWh) and 850 kW being removed from the grid.

As one of the United States’ largest electric utilities, SCE serves a population of nearly 14 million via 4.0 million customer accounts in a 50,000 square-mile service area within Central, Coastal, and Southern California.

“We are thrilled to be recognized by SCE in such a manner,” said EMC Director of Marketing and Rebate Administration John Loheit, who accepted EMC’s award at SCE’s 2014 Authorized Agent Recognition Event held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. “We’ve worked hard to establish EMC as a difference maker in the eyes of our utility partners across the Americas and we appreciate having our efforts validated.”

Delivering a savings of 4.7 million kWh and removing 850 kW from the grid is the equivalent of the carbon sequestered by 85,028 newly planted trees or the removal of 691 passenger vehicles for a year from our roads. This was no easy task, and required a collective effort by both EMC and their partners at Southern California Edison. Program elements have changed dramatically in recent years, making the process of filing and completing projects with incentives more challenging. The EMC team led the effort to coordinate all projects through to completion.

“Going the extra mile—especially when it comes to delivering energy savings to our customers—has been at the core of our company’s values from day one,” said EMC President and CEO Jerry Johnson. “In 2013 we celebrated reaching the 1 billion mark for the total kWh we’ve saved our customers in EMC’s first decade of business. This recognition shows we are off to a great start for the next decade.”
