Award reflects more than 4 million kWh (4 gWh) of energy savings EMC delivered to retail customers in Colorado in 2018.

EMC today announced it has been named a 2018 top performing trade partner by Xcel Energy Colorado. The award, which was presented at a special event at Coors Field on June 11, reflects the turnkey energy services provider’s performance in 2018 helping Colorado commercial customers achieve energy efficiency through LED lighting, controls and IoT projects.

Xcel Energy Colorado makes recognizing its top performing trade partners an annual tradition. In 2018 EMC was among the utility’s top 25 trade allies, out of a substantial pool of 800, for overall energy savings and placed in the top five for lighting projects. Xcel Energy Colorado looks for superior performance in commercial energy efficiency projects, rebate dollars and kWh/Dekatherm savings to identify top performers.

“We worked hard to help customers with locations in Colorado achieve significant energy savings and reach their sustainability goals faster than they expect,” said Jolene Fenn-Jansen, EMC manager of customer incentives. “We’re honored to know that these efforts are appreciated by utility partners like Xcel Energy Colorado.”

In addition to Colorado, Minneapolis-based Xcel Energy has operations in seven other states. In 2016 Xcel Energy Minnesota recognized EMC for LED projects completed for four retail clients, which yielded energy savings of just under a million kWh and project savings of almost $500,000.

Recognition of this strong working relationship and track record of success goes both ways. In 20162017 and 2018 Xcel Energy locations were recognized by EMC in its annual list of top utility performers.

The utility is often a critical partner for EMC’s multisite LED lighting projects. Xcel Energy’s ability to expedite preapproval times for custom projects and excellent offering of prescriptive rebates helps deliver full incentives values that significantly offset project costs.
