Star Power Headed to 2016 3M Championship in Blaine

May 26, 2016

EMC is proud to announce that it will be entering its second decade as a corporate sponsor of the PGA Tour Champions’ 3M Challenge, from August 1-7, 2016 at the TPC Twin Cities, in Blaine, Minnesota.

With apologies to two-time defending champion Kenny Perry, the biggest draw at this year’s 24th playing of the 3M Championship will be PGA Tour Champions newcomer John Daly, who turned 50 years old on April 28.

Daly, who has 10 world-wide wins as a professional, including two majors, is known as “Long John” for his huge length off the tee, becoming the first player to average over 300 yards in 1997. Daly came out of nowhere to win his first of two career majors, the 1991 PGA Championship, in his first year on tour. Daly was the ninth alternate for the tournament, making him a long shot to even play in the event, much less win it. His “Grip it and rip it” mantra and colorful style has made him a favorite of golf fans all over the globe.

Joining Daly as the headliners in Blaine will be Perry, whose scorching second-round, course-record tying 61 spurred him to a four-shot win last year, and Bernhard Langer, last year’s runner-up, who last week won the first senior major of the year, giving him six career senior majors, just two behind all-time leader Jack Nicklaus.

A 3M Championship sponsor since 2006, EMC will once again be the title sponsor of the Wednesday and Thursday Pro-Am on August 3-4, 2016, and will have a skybox location on the 18th green all week.
