While early April saw the announcement of the class of 2016 for Cleveland’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, EMC’s own “rock star” was in Cleveland from April 5-7 for NALMCO’s Spring Seminar. Project manager Brian Baker was there leading the CLMC (Certified Lighting Management Consultant) content review sessions and proctoring the exam for seminar participants hoping to become CLMC certified.

The Spring Seminar is the first of two big events each year hosted by NALMCO (interNational Association of Lighting Management Companies), which also holds a national convention and trade show in October each year. (The 63rd annual is scheduled for October 9-12, 2016, in Dallas, TX.)

NALMCO continues to be an industry leader and adhere to their mission statement as “an organization that establishes and promotes the highest professional standards for lighting management professionals.”

It was in that spirit that EMC was honored to have Baker there as a representative lending his expertise on behalf of NALMCO and EMC. Baker is an active member of the certification committee for NALMCO and holds certifications from both CLMC (Certified Lighting Management Consultant) and CLEP (Certified Lighting Efficiency Professional) through AEE (Association of Energy Engineers).

In 2013, Baker received a Lumina Award from NALMCO for commitment, dedication and leadership to NALMCO and the lighting industry. These accomplishments made Baker an ideal lecturer for the latest seminar, which had over 90 attendees.

Baker taught the CMLC Content Review session with Erik Ennen, who is the Facility Services Manager at the Center for Energy and Environment, which is headquartered in Minneapolis. The CMLC program recognizes members of the lighting management industry who have demonstrated superior knowledge and technical expertise. Getting CLMC certification is one of the industry’s top achievements. It is the oldest nationally recognized lighting certification program, as well as the first to be accepted by the EPA’s ENERGY STAR.

NALMCO offers continuing education at their “Knowledge Center,” an online database that offers the latest industry information on technology developments, best practices, management operations and more.

“We’re proud to have Brian represent EMC at NALMCO’s seminar,” said EMC President & CEO Jerry Johnson. “His expertise is widely respected and helps guide both EMC and NALMCO’s progressive thinking in the lighting industry.”
