Come Out and See Golfing Greats Up Close and Personal

June 29, 2016

There may not be a better way to get an up-close and personal look of some of the world’s greatest golfers than at the three Pro-Ams that kick off play during the 3M Championship at the TPC Twin Cities in Blaine from August 1-7.

Tournament golf is obviously fantastic, but the players have their game faces on by then, if you want to see them interacting with the crowd, smiling and laughing and playing for fun, checking them out during the Pro-Ams is a must.

Three-time LPGA major champion and LPGA Tour legend Nancy Lopez will be the headliner at the Accenture Executive Women’s Pro-Am on Tuesday, August 2.

Lopez will host a golf clinic from 10:30-11:15am that is open to the public before the 12:00pm shotgun start for the Accenture Executive Women’s Pro-Am. The Women’s Pro-Am will run from noon until 4:30-5pm before a reception and awards ceremony for the golfers in the Pro-Am tent.

Two of the senior professionals participating in the Women’s Pro-Am will be golfing legend Fuzzy Zoeller and local hero (and EMC board member) John Harris.

Zoeller won 10 PGA Tour events, including two majors, winning the Masters in 1979 and the U.S. Open in 1984. Zoeller is one of only three players to ever win the Masters in his first appearance, winning a three-man playoff, and he bested Greg Norman in an 18-hole playoff to capture the Open. Zoeller is one of the most charismatic and colorful players to ever play on the PGA Tour and it’s nearly impossible not to have a fun time following him around a golf course.

Harris is one of the best dual-sport athletes to come out of the state of Minnesota. He was the second-leading scorer on the University of Minnesota hockey team that won the 1974 national title and then just two months later he captured the individual title at the Big Ten golf championships. Harris won the 1993 U.S. Amateur at the age of 41-- no one older than age 25 has won the title since then. Harris has one PGA Tour Champions title to his credit, winning the 2006 Commerce Bank Championship.

A host of other golf legends will join teams of women in the Accenture Executive Women’s Pro-Am. It’s a must see for golf fans, as you’ll never get a better chance to see golf greats this up close and personal!

The Women’s Pro-Am will be followed by the invitation-only EMC draw party presented by Treasure Island Resort & Casino in the KQRS tent at 6:30pm.
