Time to Wrap Up your 2017 Projects

November 20, 2017

If you’re like me, you’re not sure how November is flying by so quickly! But we are at that critical stage of LED lighting and controls projects where utilities are expecting your final paperwork.

Procrastination can negatively impact your pocketbook as many programs have already run out of funds and utilities’ focus have shifted to rolling out their 2018 programs.

If you are working with a utility that requires you to submit all paperwork at the end of the year you may be able to get an extension, but this tends to be more difficult to request as year-end approaches. Also, some utilities will allow you to submit your final applications after their 2017 deadline, but they will then payout the incentive with their 2018 budget. If the 2018 program changes, this could mean a possible decrease for incentive values.

Find yourself with excess capital as year-end approaches? While many rebate and incentive programs are closing out, don’t assume there aren’t programs out there! Look in those unexpected places, like Iowa, where Alliant Energy is offering incentives for LED replacement tubes.

Lastly, start thinking about 2018. This is the best time of year to be planning your projects and ensuring alignment with the utility incentive and rebate programs that open in January.

Whether you have questions about wrapping 2017 projects or are ready to get off to a great start in 2018, let us know how we can help!
