Design Lights Consortium (DLC) recently made some changes to their Qualified Product List and how they now categorize products. Tony Johnson, EMC's Manager of Technology, explains the changes that occurred a couple weeks ago.

"This year, DLC made a major change by adding different levels of DLC qualifications. They now have categories in which products can be listed, including "DLC Standard" and "DLC Premium," said Tony.

"The DLC Standard requirements stayed roughly the same from the 2014 update, but they put some serious teeth into the new DLC Premium efficacy requirements. Depending on the fixture category, the new Premium Lm/W requirements are 25-40% higher than the 2014 Qualification Criteria," he said.

EMC is proactively reaching out to our utility contacts to see if this change will have an impact on incentive program requirements pertaining to DLC. As of right now, many utilities have expressed that the change should not impact the program requirements immediately, but it may in the future.
