New EMC tergoUV™-Cabinet Quickly and Effectively Disinfects Soft and Hard Goods with UV-C Light
October 19th, 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has businesses across all economic sectors searching for solutions that make their environments safe and inspire confidence in the public. EMC, which provides LED Lighting + Technology conversion systems and service solutions to retail, commercial and industrial customers since 2003, is proud to introduce the EMC tergoUVTM-Cabinet. “Tergo,” which means “to clean” in Latin, exemplifies the function of EMC’s new disinfectant UV-C lighting product line.
“COVID-19 raised people’s standards for health and safety in public environments to a level that will remain even after the pandemic subsides,” said EMC CEO and Chairman Jerry Johnson. “The tergoUV-Cabinet is an investment in meeting these elevated expectations going forward.”
Inspired by retailers seeking a safe way to reopen dressing rooms and accept returned merchandise, this UV-C chamber disinfects up to 99.9% of germs and viruses, including COVID-19, found on soft and hard goods.
The tergoUV-Cabinet allows up to eight pieces of clothing to be hung, or multiple hard goods such as shoes, personal electronics and other high touch merchandise and store equipment, to be stacked within the cabinet. Once the doors are secured, highly effective UV-C rays uniformly and consistently disinfect items in just 45 seconds, at which point the items can be safely handled by new customers.
With its reconfigurable shelving, intuitive operations, easy to use touch screen, heavy-duty casters and redundant safety features, the tergoUV-Cabinet provides a dynamic and flexible approach to disinfection for a variety of public settings including:
- Educational institutions for classroom electronics, books, and physical education and team sport equipment
- Health clubs for yoga props, weights and other commonly used pieces of equipment
- Salons for hair cutting capes, clippers and scissors
Long used as a disinfectant for air and surfaces, the tergoUV-Cabinet’s low-pressure mercury UV-C light delivers a scientifically based, consistent and cost-effective approach to disinfection that is a more sustainable and automated alternative to traditional cleaning solutions involving chemicals and paper towels.
“Right now, publicly facing institutions have made extraordinary investments in added cleaning protocols. It’s everything from adding new employees to redeploying existing employees to wipe down shopping carts and spray chemicals on fitness equipment to changing revenue driving business operations like closing early so cleaning crews can sanitize floors and other surfaces,” said Aakash Chandarana, EMC director of advanced development. “The tergoUV-Cabinet streamlines these processes with a fast, economical and effective approach.”
EMC provides best-in-class LED lighting + technology solutions and services to a broad range of multinational retail, commercial, industrial and specialized customers.
