Plymouth, MN – Turnkey lighting solutions provider Energy Management Collaborative (EMC) recognized a significant milestone this month when its completed lighting retrofit projects produced a billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of energy savings. The resulting reduction in carbon emissions is the equivalent of planting 18 million pine trees, removing 134,000 cars from the roads for a year or shutting off an average US coal power plant for 105 days.

“We began tracking energy savings for individual customers who wanted to know the positive impact lighting improvements have on their bottom line,” said Jerry Johnson, EMC president and CEO. “When we compiled the results, we could clearly see significant beneficial environmental impacts resulting from a decade worth of projects.”

Lighting upgrades are one of the easiest ways an organization can reduce its energy consumption. A variety of customers, including major retail chains, multinational industrial and commercial corporations, healthcare providers and government entities, are all markets in which EMC completed projects that achieved 1 billion kWh in saving. Project environments ranged from office buildings and distribution centers to retail outlets.

“EMC’s strong, collaborative relationships with utilities across the United States also contribute to reaching the billion mark as quickly as we did,” said John Loheit, EMC director of rebate administration. “Our ability to fully leverage rebates and incentives allows us to deliver a lower initial cost, which often inspired customers to expand the scope of their project.”

Energy Management Collaborative is a provider of innovative lighting solutions in the Americas. Since 2003, major retail chains, multinational industrial and commercial corporations, healthcare providers and government entities have sought the energy services company for its leadership in assessing their lighting needs and implementing high quality, cost effective and long term lighting solutions. The company’s trademarked project management approach, EnergyMAXX, maximizes customer results in each project phase, from initial planning through installation, bringing an immediate, positive impact on their bottom line.
